Tom Padilla - Red Dragon Nostalgia Funny Car

This is the Funny Car Red Dragon. The body was blasted off the car when the engine blew a piston.

This happened at the Bakersfield March Meet, at Famoso Raceway, on Saturday, March 7th, 2009.

I took these pictures about 30 minutes after the wreck. Video of the body flying in the air can be seen on Youtube.com.

I can say that the body flew high enough for nearly everyone there that day to see.

There was a small hang time before it came back down.
